Day 1 – Shared Transfer to Tortuguero, Arrival & Turtle Nesting Tour

Morning – Shared Land Transportation to La Pavona

Your journey begins with a shared A/C van transfer from your confirmed pickup location.

Because this is a shared transportation service, the exact pickup time depends on your departure location and will be confirmed after we know your hotel, Airbnb, or meeting point.

The drive takes you through scenic rural landscapes, banana plantations, small towns, and Caribbean lowland areas on the way to La Pavona, the main boat departure point to Tortuguero.

Late Morning / Midday – Boat Transfer to Tortuguero

Upon arrival at La Pavona, you will continue by boat through the rivers and canals that lead to Tortuguero.

This boat transfer is part of the experience, offering your first views of the tropical rainforest, river scenery, and possible wildlife along the way.

After arriving in Tortuguero Village, you will continue to your assigned hotel or lodge.

Afternoon – Check-In & Free Time

Check in at your standard accommodation with A/C and take some time to rest after the journey.

Depending on the arrival time and local logistics, you may have free time to walk around Tortuguero Village, visit the beach area, explore local shops, or enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Lunch is not included, giving you the flexibility to choose where you would like to eat.

Evening – Turtle Nesting Tour

In the evening, you will join a responsible turtle nesting tour with authorized local guides.

This seasonal experience is available during the Tortuguero sea turtle nesting season, from July to October. The exact tour time is assigned locally and depends on park regulations and turtle nesting activity.

During the tour, you will visit the nesting beach with your guide and learn about sea turtle conservation, nesting behavior, and the importance of protecting this natural event.

After the tour, return to your hotel for the night.

Day 2 – Canoe Tour, Jaguar Trail Hike & Free Afternoon in Tortuguero

Early Morning – Guided Canoe Tour in Tortuguero National Park

Start the day with a guided canoe tour through the canals of Tortuguero National Park.

This is one of the best ways to experience the rainforest, as the quiet canals allow excellent opportunities for wildlife observation. Depending on the conditions of the day, you may see monkeys, sloths, caimans, iguanas, toucans, herons, kingfishers, and other tropical birds and rainforest species.

The Tortuguero National Park entrance fee for the scheduled canoe tour is included in this package.

Mid-Morning – 1-Hour Break

After the canoe tour, you will have approximately 1 hour of free time to rest, have breakfast, change clothes, refill your water bottle, or prepare for the next guided activity.

Late Morning – Guided Jaguar Trail Hike

After the break, continue with a guided hike along the Jaguar Trail, one of Tortuguero National Park’s most famous rainforest trails.

This walking tour gives you the opportunity to explore the forest on foot and look for wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, tropical birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and other rainforest species, depending on the conditions of the day.

Your guide will also share information about the rainforest ecosystem, local plants, wildlife behavior, and the importance of Tortuguero as a protected area.

Afternoon – Free Time in Tortuguero

After the Jaguar Trail hike, enjoy free time to rest, explore Tortuguero Village, visit the beach area, take photos, relax at your hotel, or enjoy lunch and dinner at local restaurants.

This extra afternoon is one of the main advantages of the 3-day / 2-night package, giving you a more relaxed Tortuguero experience compared with the shorter overnight version.

Day 3 – Breakfast, Check-Out & Shared Transfer Out of Tortuguero

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and prepare your luggage for departure.

Check-out will be coordinated according to the boat schedule and shared transportation logistics for your selected route.

Morning / Midday – Boat Transfer Back to La Pavona

Board the boat from Tortuguero back to La Pavona, traveling once again through the scenic canals and rivers of the Caribbean lowlands.

This final boat transfer gives you one more opportunity to enjoy the beautiful river scenery before continuing by land.

Midday / Afternoon – Shared Land Transportation to Your Next Destination

At La Pavona, connect with the shared A/C van transportation for your return or onward transfer according to your selected route and availability.

Depending on your travel plans, transportation may be arranged toward destinations such as San José, SJO Airport, Heredia, Alajuela, La Fortuna, Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, or Manzanillo, when available.
